Old Northleans Community

When I was at Northlea School 1974 / 75 I Kept a diary and stil have the two 1975 diarys , The pages are brown from age but i have scaned most of the diary.

Excuse the spelling mistakes as my diary's are old and the writing is faded  , I wrote all these names in my Diary because i knew all of these poeple on some level .

I also wrote down some teachers that i knew's names;

I do remember you vaguely as too most of the other names quoted.  Quite honestly, I have not heard or thought of some of those names for decades!!

Yes, you did know me.  I joined the hostel in 1975.  We were among the new recruits in a brand new hostel. 

Its amazing with you naming all of the people we knew at school, how many you actually forget, but it brought it all back again.

I cant believe so few of the poeple i Mentioned replied , what has happened to them all , Mabe Zim and SA web servers are to expensive and unreliable , We are lucky here in the UK to have 24/7 broadband access , O well if anyone I mentioned joins please leave a note.

Hi Gerhard.  Steve Roberts here. I graduated in 76, spending 75-76 at the hostel. I left Rhodesia in 77...moved to Canada.  I recognize some names, but not many. I didn't have any pictures or other memorablia to stay in touch.  I do remember Dave Hughes quite well. We were dorm prefects and hung out a bit. Alister (Scotty) Moir was also a friend of mine, and i stayed in touch with him for a couple of years after.  He moved back to Scotland, and died in a vehicle accident shortly after that.  Also remember many of the teachers you listed.  Mr. Rascher and Miss Kets were my favorites.

I'm living in Atlanta, GA now.

 Such a blast from the past seeing all those names again. I still have copies of all the school magazines from 1976 to 1980 (with one year when we did not have a mag. I have scanned all the photos and have been trying to download them onto this site but seem to be having a lot of trouble doing this. The photos all have the names below them, so that should bring back some memories.

Forgot to mention, look at the Photo section and there is a cracker of you after a prefect's dinner in the hostel.   I'm sure not many people look any where near similar to what they did then.
