Re: When were you at Northlea and where are you now?

    Hi Matt,

Mrs. Feltham was Miss. Spotworth (or something like that) I remember her as she made me jump over the horse in pt and I sprayed my ankle very badly. The senior guys had to carry me back to the hostel. Most embrassing for a 13 year old then.

John Rich & Kevin Kiel, great to see you and not changed at all. I remember you both, as you came out to the farm with Matt.

As to when I was at Northlea, I will have to go look it up. Really can't remember. I had Debbie Panell, Gavin Davidson in my class and my class teacher was Miss. Deas. Does anyone know where Jayne Beecham is and contact address?

    Hi Wens

I do recall a small part of that fete, if my memory serves me correctly, there was a helicopter from the airforce that landed there, it was around the time the hostel was opened, I also remember that the borewors rolls were really great too!!!!

Re: When were you at Northlea and where are you now?

I was at Northlea 1952 (soon after it opened) - 1956.  Most memorable teacher was Ray Suttle.  (English and Latin.)

I did have a bit of a crush on the art teacher  -  Peggy Pitout.

Headmaster was Mr. Broughton.  (His wife taught French.)

A couple of years ago I met up with a classmate from those days  -  now a doctor in Las Vegas.

Another phoned me from midwest USA, to say he was running a printing business.

(Not indentified, as I don't know if they want their names posted here.)

I lost touch with everyone when I moved to USA.   Jimmy Hewitson.  Clifford Calder.  Shirley Gerber.  Where are you now?

    I'm now living in California.

Hi Gerhard, we still had the rifle club when I was at Northlea, we used old .303 rifles converted to .22, with outdated ammunition which often missfired. I think the adult pistol club (9mm) had folded by that time, but I heared it was revived in the late 70's as a result of the security situation.

Re: When were you at Northlea and where are you now?

    Hi All,

WOW just had my memory jogged by Nigel, Mr. Roper was one of my maths teachers and he would have a lesson called weak Joke Week when he would tell all these really weak jokes, it was brilliant, and  the plus was we had a free period. I still use his pick a thunb joke to break the ice with new pupils and it works.

    Great memories

Re: When were you at Northlea and where are you now?

Hello Matt, Re: DOES ANYONE STILL REMEMBER MIS ROCKINGHAM, AND MRS FELTHAM (NEE CAN'T REMEMBER) SHE WAS A GEOGRAPHY AND PE TEACHER, SHE MARRIED MR FELTHAM WHO WAS AN ENGLISH TEACHER (I THINK) I was at Northlea from 1978 to 1982. I remember many faces but I can't remember their names so your mention of Miss Rockingham brought back some memories. Of all the teachers what made you recall her in particular?. She didn't teach me personally but a friend of mine Adrian Beecham boarded in the hostle that she lived in and he used to tell me that she drove him MAD. On of the things he told me was that she ordered him to cease playing his Rocky Horror record because she said the the lyrics were "filthy and immoral"! Miss Rockingham had a very mixed reputation among other pupils and I heard that in 1983 the Headmaster ordered her to resign because she had caused much aggrivation in the staff room and with some parents. Did you know Adrian Beecham? What subject did Miss Rockingham teach? If Miss Rockingham taught you personally please reply telling me what she was like as a teacher? Regards Dan

Re: When were you at Northlea and where are you now?

From Dan, Above, Claire Edwards (nee Strydom) asks if anyone knows Jayne Beechams' contact details. I Googled "Jayne Beecham" and about 20 references came up all for the same person who is an IT communications officer at a Mid Yorkshire Hospital (Wakefield) Contact Details: Jayne Beecham at Wakefield PCT on Tel: 01924 213016 or Tel: 01924 212984 Email: jayne.beecham@midyorks.nhs.uk . According to the Google search engine there is only one Jayne Beecham in the whole world - so amazing as it seems, it must be her. Let us all know if you make contact Claire. Regards Dan.
